Sew Much More Goes to Sisters! July 2018

Join Wendy on a quilt adventure to the Pacific Northwest! We will enjoy some Portland hospitality on each end of our stay and in between, we will take in the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and related events.Our drive to and from Portland will take us through the Willamette River Valley where we will enjoy mountain and forest views beyond compare. Summer weather in this area is very dry (less than an inch the entire month) and temperatures arewarm, with daytime averages in the 80s. Evenings cool to the 60s.

The specifics of our itinerary will be finalized once the quilt event organizers firm up their details in early 2018. For now, here is our planned itinerary. We do hope you will join in the fun.

Wednesday, July 11 Fly to Portland, Oregon (PDX). You will be provided with information regarding local transit so you may enjoy the city at your leisure whenever you arrive. Whatever your pleasure may be, there is something for you - perhaps a Voodoo Doughnut, the must-see Powell’s City of Books, International Rose Test Garden, or Portland Japanese Garden. You can also shop & dine at Cascade Station and Ikea which are a short walking distance from the hotel. Overnight in Portland. (Hyatt Place Cascade Station)
Thursday, July 12 Enjoy the included breakfast bar at your leisure, then we will depart on our trek south. On our way, we will shop hop to break up the drive, with lunch on your own in one of the small towns. Before you know it, we will arrive at our home for the next three nights. Once we are checked in, feel free to unpack, have a bite, take a swim, go for a walk, do whatever you like before
the hectic weekend begins. Overnight in Redmond. (The Lodge at Eagle Crest Resort thru Saturday night.)
Friday, July 13 Enjoy a private group buffet breakfast before we leave for the day. The coach will go to Sisters early this morning to drop off those participating in workshops or lectures. (Event registration opens January 4.) The rest of the group can enjoy the resort before we visit a few local shops and sights. We will return to Sisters for some shopping time before the crowds descend on Saturday and to meet up with the rest of our group. Tonight, we will enjoy the Picnic in the Commons event. We are awaiting word on this year’s special guest speaker and educators but it’s always a good time. We will return to our hotel around 830 pm.
Saturday, July 14 Put on your walking shoes, enjoy a private group buffet breakfast, and hop on the bus for our day in Sisters. The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show runs from 9 am – 4 pm. You are free to explore, shop, eat, or all the above before we return to our hotel. We will gather for a group dinner this evening with happy exhaustion! Save some time to pack your treasures for tomorrow we head north.
Sunday, July 15 After enjoying a private group buffet breakfast, we will begin our trip back to Portland. We will have lunch enroute in the shadows of Mt. Hood as we enjoy the glorious sights. We will surely have another fabric shop stop or two in Portland before reaching our hotel and saying goodbye to our driver. We will gather for some sharing time tonight after you’ve had time to pack, grab dinner, or explore the city a bit more before the trip home. Overnight in Portland. (Hyatt Place Cascade Station)
Monday, July 16 Enjoy the included breakfast bar at your leisure and prepare for the journey home. We are planning group tours and events which will appeal to a quilter and/or fiber lover. Specific touring details will be available once the organizers release event details. Our itinerary will be somewhat flexible so we may take advantage of opportunities as they become available.

Our itinerary allows you to sign up for events held on Friday, July 13. If you wish to take in events on prior days, you may elect to travel independently and catch up with us in Sisters. Cost adjustments will be made accordingly.
Air Transportation: Flights may be booked to arrive at any time Wednesday in Portland, Oregon (PDX). We will offer assistance if needed. Please note that beginning January 2018, a Real ID compliant state issued driver
license/ID is required to travel domestically. Compliance is indicated by a gold encircled star in the upper right hand corner.

What's Included? Portland airport transfers via hotel shuttle on Wednesday and Sunday; motorcoach transportation for group events; five nights hotel, double occupancy; basic driver gratuity; group gatherings; five breakfasts; one lunch, two dinners; Wendy & travel coordinator accompaniment.
Meals: Group meals aren’t usually the best value (higher cost, slow service, less quality) so we have opted to allow each of you the freedom to dine as you wish except for Friday and Saturday. Should quality group dining opportunities present themselves as we finalize the itinerary, we will look at including them.
Insurance: Through experience, we have made it our policy not to include travel insurance in package pricing.
While including it seems easiest, finding that your needs are not covered by a universal policy makes that coverage a waste of money. See the Insurance paragraph on the Terms & Conditions page for more information. If your trip participation is dependent on having a roommate, insurance is recommended because, should your roommate cancel, you would be liable for single supplements or cancellation fees.
Terms & Conditions: Despite all the legalese we are required to include in these offerings, we rarely encounter any of the situations described therein. But it will only take one instance to remove the joy from our adventure so we appease the legal advisors and make you aware of situations that might arise. Submitting the registration form denotes acceptance of the Terms & Conditions.

Accommodation Occupancy: All pricing is based on two per room. Single occupancy is limited.
